One of the main reasons why there are many work at home scams out there, is that so many people want to work from home, but relatively few jobs. Persons looking for work at home are desperate and will try anything to find work.
You need not be as desperate, if you're willing to think more like an entrepreneur, even when you are after more than one job as a business opportunity. One of the best work at home jobs are the ones you find by asking around, instead of waiting for work to be listed. There is less competition in this way.
The first step is to assess the skills you have and prepare a strong CV. You want to look for work that you are qualified to do so that potential employers are comfortable with the idea to make you do work from home.
Do not just lists
There are many websites that list companies known to hire employees working at home. I have a list here. That does not mean that these companies are your only options, or the best, even for your job search. After all, are better known, which means that you can find more competition in your search.
You can see signs of important jobs, and so on craigslist for a job, but be aware that fraud can be anywhere. You can also search using Google or other search engines using terms such as "This is a telecommuting position," "is a virtual position", "will have the opportunity to work from home" "the work can be done remotely from home "and so on. Think outside the box, and you improve your chances.
Internet can not be the best source for work at home Jobs
It is easy enough to use the Internet to look for work at home jobs ... Apart from all the scams is that. This is a great source for certain types of work in particular, as a freelancer. But for other types of work, you may be best to contact local small businesses on their needs.
Data entry and accounting are two places where you may be able to help a small local business in your home instead of looking for work online. Many small businesses need help in these areas, but do not want to hire a full time employee at the site to be treated.
Find local businesses online, the phone book, or even just walk around and see if they get a cover letter and resume. Not everyone at all interested in the work of someone in their house, but some see the benefits.
You will need to consider if you want to be an employee or independent contractor. There are differences and they will determine in part how you approach prospective employers, and certain legal and tax issues you will face.
However, looking for work working at home, do not give up just because they are easy to find. It requires determination and perseverance to land a job almost anywhere, there is no reason to expect to work at home to be different. Just remember why you decided you prefer to work at home and keep trying until you do.
